Cross-Format Roll Conversions
It's a sad reality that of the tens of thousands of coin-op nickelodeons rolls that once existed, only a minute fraction survive today. Generally speaking, roll scarcity increases with age. Any nickelodeon roll dating prior to the first World War should be considered extremely scarce. "Endless" type rolls, which most of the earliest nickelodeons used, are especially rare because of the nature in which they were used. From the condition of surviving rolls we can see that in the early days these rolls were literally played to death.
It frequently happens that when a truly great roll turns up, it happens to be in a format which only a limited number of collectors can play. For this reason we intend to actively convert outstanding rolls into alternate formats for collectors to enjoy.
For example, there are many exceptional G- and 4x-rolls which exist for which A-roll counterparts have never been found, and may never be found. LINK music, which is exceptional and unique in every way, can only be enjoyed by fortunate owners of these machines. The same is true of the huge repertoire of material available on Wurlitzer rolls.
We invite your ideas and/or requests for "conversion" rolls. Over the coming months we intend to offer roll collectors an opportunity to hear the finest in coin-op music, and on the machine of their choice.
